In particular, a new fibre optic cable system and 22 broadcasting stations have been installed, whilst wifi systems at competition venues and across the city have been regularly checked.
Training has taken place for the 1,530 volunteers, and plans are complete for the ceremonies hoisting the flags of the participating countries, and for welcoming delegates and athletes at the opening and closing ceremonies.
Arrangements for accommodation and eating and drinking areas for participating officials, invited guests, coaches and athletes are in place. Detailed plans have been prepared for 17 cultural activities to coincide with ABG5.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Dung highlighted “This will be the first time that Da Nang has hosted a continent-level sports event. Therefore, ABG5 is expected to be a golden opportunity for the city to advertise its beautiful images to international friends. I would like domestic and foreign media agencies to join efforts with the local authorities to ensure the success of this event.”
Also on the same day, a visiting group from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, led by its Deputy Minister Le Quang Cuong, and some representatives from the municipal Department of Health, made inspection visits to some local hotels. The intention was to check their preparations, food sources, water quality, environmental hygiene and epidemic prevention work.
Mr Luong Ngoc Hue, Head of the Ministry’s Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, said that his delegation will continue conducting its checks and monitoring of local restaurants and hotels.
He added that the Medical and Dope Testing Sub-board has made emergency plans in case of mass food poisoning, and arranged ambulances around the clock at some hotels and competition venues to deal with any unexpected situations.
