The entries in the international-level contest to design the landscape along both banks of Da Nang’s Han River have already been reduced to the final 12.  The contest’s organisers recently met with the 12 final contestants to help them improve the quality of their design proposals.

The entrants are now being provided with general information about the city’s socio-economic development over recent years, the local climate and hydrological conditions, as well as satellite images of the entire urban area.

For relevant information on the urban space along both banks of the river, the contestants are able to access numerous maps of the site’s existing topography and current land use status, as well as the nearby bridges, architectural landmarks, high buildings and other related projects within 500m of the riverbanks.

In addition, the contestants can visit reference websites in both Vietnamese and English to search for further information which might be useful for them to complete their design proposals.  They are the city’s Portal at http://www.danang.gov.vn, the DA NANG Newspaper at http://www.baodanang.vn, the website of the municipal Department of Construction at http://www.sxd.danang.gov.vn, and the city’s Tourism Portal at http://tourism.danang.vn/.

The contest’s organisers have also encouraged the 12 final contestants to make field trips to areas along the banks of the river to learn more about the current status quo of the site.
