The donations include a ‘Viet Nam Pieta’ statue which depicts a mother holding her dead baby as if she were lulling the baby to sleep. This aims to pay tribute to those killed in massacres during the resistance war against the US, especially babies.
In addition, there are 19 photos about the ‘Sincerely apologising to the Vietnamese’ movement in South Korea. Eleven others, taken by Korean photographers, relate to Vietnamese people’s memories and injuries caused by South Korean soldiers during the past war. Six more commemorate Vietnamese victims in civilian massacres carried out by South Korean soldiers, and there are books, compact discs, DVDs and cards which all contain messages of peace and opposition to war.
Over recent years, the Museum of Da Nang has focused on appealing for organisations and individuals, from both home and aboard, to donate documents and artifacts to the museum in order to diversify its exhibits.
