20th DA NANG Newspaper Cross-country Running Competition

The 20th DA NANG Newspaper Cross-country Running Competition took place yesterday morning at Son Tra District’s East Sea Park.

The event was part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of Da Nang’s recognition as a centrally-governed city on 1 January 1997, the 72nd founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Army (22 December), and the 27th anniversary of People's National Defence Day (22 December).

This year’s event attracted around 1,000 runners from local relevant departments, agencies, and military and police forces, along with professional runners from the provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Son La, Ninh Binh, Quang Tri, Lam Dong, Ha Tinh, and Dak Lak.

The winners in the team categories of junior and senior high schools were from the Ngu Hanh Son Office of Education and Training and the Pham Phu Thu Senior High School respectively.  Meanwhile, the Da Nang Junior College of Commerce came first in the team category for technical secondary schools or vocational training centres.

For the 10th consecutive year, Thanh Khe District won first prize in the team category for the city’s districts, followed by Hoa Vang and Son Tra districts.

The winners in the team categories for militia forces at ward level and local businesses were from Hoa Thuan Tay Ward and the Da Nang Rubber Company.

The Da Nang Reconnaissance Company and the Brigade 74 were the winners in the team categories for police and military forces respectively.
