In the 2 years since being launched, Da Nang’s helicopter tours have attracted thousands of visitors, mainly from such foreign countries as South Korea, France, the Netherlands, Germany and the USA.

The service uses an EC130T2 helicopter whose overall excellent visibility, quietness, and safety makes it a key member of Airbus Helicopters Inc’s AStar product line.  This is now the most advanced type of helicopter in the world.  Each helicopter can accommodate 5 passengers for a 15 or 30-minute flight.

Under the control of highly experienced captain Tran Xuan Vinh, the helicopter tours depart from the Nuoc Man Helicopter Base in Ngu Hanh Son District’s Khue My Ward.  During their flight, passengers on board can enjoy bird’s-eye views of the amazing beauty of the city’s landscapes including the unique bridges crossing the romantic Han River, the Marble Mountains, the local beaches, the Linh Ung pagoda, and Man Quang Bay.

Most US veterans seem to prefer the helicopter tour over the city, whilst visitors from European countries love taking the Hoi An - My Son tour to discover the beauty of these sites from above.

In order to meet the demands of visitors, the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Travel Mart Company has launched many attractive helicopter tours.  These tours are especially popular with cruise ship passengers who do not have much time to visit all the popular local attractions.

In addition to the tours around the city, various other tours are available to popular attractions elsewhere in the central region and highlands.  These include the Cham Islands, Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary and Chu Lai Port in Quang Nam Province; the Lang Co tourist area, the Bach Ma National Park and Hue Citadel in Thua Thien-Hue Province; Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai Province; Phong Nha Cave in Quang Binh Province; Con Co Island in Quang Tri Province; Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Kon Tum and Pleiku provinces.

The company is also now offering an on-demand helicopter rental service for serving VIP passengers, or for those who want to conduct surveys, make videos or take wedding photos.

A helicopter tour is also the perfect way for young couples to propose.  During her recent helicopter tour, Ms Ya Ya from Australia received a marriage proposal from her boyfriend.  After the helicopter landed, Ya Ya was taken totally by surprise by a banner which said ‘Ya Ya, will you marry me?’.

Mr Tao Viet Thang, head of the company’s Helicopter Office, said “My company has recently signed a contract with the Viet Nam Helicopter Corporation to use its helicopters for its new type of tourism.  This has helped the company to become a sole helicopter tour provider in the central region.  My company is ordering a new and more modern helicopter from the USA to enhance the quality of this new service in order to provide the best experience for passengers”.
