During his meeting on Tuesday with the organisers of the annual Quan The Am (Avalokitecvara Bodhisattva) Festival, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung agreed with a plan to appeal for public donations for the Festival for the 2017 - 2020 period.

Under the plan, in 2017 the Executive Board of the city's Buddhist Sangha will be responsible for organising the solemn Buddhist rituals and arts programmes.  Meanwhile, the Ngu Hanh Son District authorities will initiate appeals for donations from local businesses to pay for the cultural and sporting activities.  Special attention will be paid to enhancing the quality of the Festival’s events, as well as organising a series of events which will recall legends relating to historical landmarks in the locality.

Some participants at the meeting suggested that more emphasis should be placed on better advertising the Festival to domestic and foreign visitors, making the cultural and sporting activities more exciting, preserving the traditional cultural values and customs, and expanding the scale of this annual local festival.

The Quan The Am Festival will take place in the Ngu Hanh Son/Marble Mountains area between the 17^th and 19^th days of the 2^nd lunar month (14 - 16 March).
