Thanks to the great efforts of the local authorities in diversifying and renewing the local tourism products, Da Nang has gradually affirmed its position as ‘Asia’s Leading Festival and Events Destination’, the award it was given at the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony in 2016.

Some of the city’s traditional festivals have attracted a great deal of attention from both domestic and foreign visitors.  Included are the Tuy Loan, Hoa My and Hai Chau village communal house festivals, the annual Cau Ngu (Fish Worshipping) Festival, the annual Quan The Am (Avalokitecvara) Festival, and the traditional boat races.

In attempting to attract more foreign visitors, a wide range of international-scale events have also been organised in the city.  They have included the Da Nang International Fireworks Competitions, the 2015 - 2016 Clipper Round the World Race, the Da Nang International Marathon, the 2016 Asian Beach Games, the 2016 Beach-Leisure & MICE Travel Mart, and the 2016 International Conference on Tourism and Sports.

Da Nang is expected to welcome a total of 6.3 million visitors by the end of this year, including 2 million foreigners.  This will help the city's tourism sector to earn 18,500 billion VND in revenue.

In order to reach this goal, the city has already developed many new and special tourism products such as the Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park, some new adventure games at Asia Park, the first 300m-long zip line cable at the Hoa Phu Thanh tourist site, carnival festivals at Ba Na Hills Resort, and the 'Charming Da Nang' arts programme.

In addition, many large-scale events will take place across the city.  Included will be the Da Nang Cocofest, an international cuisine festival, the VNG Ironman 70.3 Viet Nam, the Da Nang International Marathon, the Colour Me Run, the ASEAN Guitar Festival, and the APEC Economic Leaders' Week.

Most notable is the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2017 which will be held in the city between 29 April and 24 June.  It is considered an important step in making Da Nang an attractive destination for hosting international-level entertainment events.

Also, a wide range of cultural activities will be held in the city during that period, on the sidelines of DIFF.  Included are an umbrella arts installation, the Beach Tourism Season, the ‘Summer Destination’ programme, the ‘International Cuisine Space’ and street parades of live music and dancing.  These exciting activities will help to advertise the brand name of the city’s tourism sector to our international friends.
