6th DA NANG Newspaper Football Tournament for pupils opens

The 6th DA NANG Newspaper Football Tournament for primary and junior high school pupils is taking place at the city’s Tien Son Sports Arena until 26 June.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on Tuesday, the DA NANG Newspaper Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Head of the Organising Board, Mr Le Quang A, highlighted the great efforts made by the Newspaper in cooperating with relevant local agencies to ensure the successful organisation of this year’s tournament.  He added that the annual tournament aims to create a useful activity for local primary and junior high school pupils during their summer vacation.

Mr A took the opportunity to thank the sponsors for their much appreciated donations towards the organisation of this year’s event.  They are: the Promotion Fund for Vietnamese Football Talent, the Da Nang-Mien Trung Investment Company, the city’s branches of the Viet Nam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper Printing Company, and the local Lottery and Financial Printing Service Company.

Also at the opening ceremony, the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, Mr Truong Cong Dinh, presented commemorative medals to the municipal departments of Education and Training and Culture and Sports, for their active involvement in supporting the Newspaper in organising the event over the past 2 years.

The opening day of the tournament featured the first exciting matches of the qualifiers for primary schools.  In Group A, Huynh Ngoc Hue defeated Tran Dai Nghia 2-1, whilst Hoa Tien 1 suffered a 3-1 loss to Nguyen Van Troi.  In Group B, Tran Cao Van notched up a 5-1 win over Ngo Si Lien, and Mai Dang Chon had a 2-3 win over Hoang Van Thu.

Today, 21 June, there are matches for junior high schools – Nguyen Luong Bang v Le Loi (Group C), Huynh Thuc Khang v Tay Son (Group C), Nguyen Hue v Nguyen Thien Thuat (Group D), and Ngo Thi Nham v Pham Van Dong (Group D).
