The Ho Chi Minh City-based company Pulse Active and the municipal Department of Culture and Sports have been given approval by the Da Nang People’s Committee to continue organising the annual Da Nang International Marathon (DNIM) over the 2018 - 2022 period.

DNIM is the first-ever professional marathon in Viet Nam, and it has been certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).  In 2014, Da Nang honourably became the 97^th member of AIMS. 

Since it was first held in 2013, the competition has attracted increasing numbers of runners from both home and abroad.  In the 2016 event, 4,500 professional and amateur runners from all around the world took part, and around 5,000 are expected this year.

The annual event is a good opportunity for Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, to promote themselves to domestic and international friends.
