Phuoc has made impressive progress prior to his attendance at the 29th SEA Games which will take place in Malaysia in late this month.

Mr Nguyen Dong Hai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Athlete Training Centre, remarked “Phuoc has produced excellent performances at the recent Hungary National Swimming Championships.  Currently, top priority is being given to training Phuoc for the men’s 200m freestyle event in order to help him defend his gold medal in this race he grabbed at the 28th SEA Games in Singapore.”

Mr Hai added that in addition to strict training sessions, Phuoc had the opportunity to compete in some international swimming tournaments, and to practise with some Hungarian talented swimmers.  They are Péter Bernek who won gold medal in the men’s 400m freestyle event at the 2015 European Short Course Swimming Championships, and Benjámin Grátz who took the bronze medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships.  Thanks to this, Phuoc now feels more confident and gets ready for the forthcoming SEA Games due to his significantly improved professional skills.

Phuoc said that he has mild shoulder pain because of participating in many international swimming tournaments.  He, however, said confidently that his health and physical strength are being recovered well after the reduction of training intensity.  This will help him gain the best success in the upcoming international sports event.
