The tournament will attract a total of 247 fencers from 21 countries and territories, including Australia, China’s Hong Kong, Saudi Arab, Kuwait, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Lebanon.
According to the organisers, the event will be managed by 16 international referees alongside the Vietnamese referees.
Participants will compete in men’s and women’s individual and team categories in sabre, foil and epee.
The competition, which is co-organised by the Viet Nam Fencing Federation and the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will be free and open to the public.
At the same event held two years ago, Vu Thanh An brought home a gold medal in the men’s sabre event.
At the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in August, the Viet Nam team won three golds and three bronzes to rank first in the fencing event.
