Addressing the opening of the venue last Friday, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ngoc Quang highlighted the history of the Quang Da Special Zone’s PaC stretching back over 5 decades.  In addition, Mr Quang mentioned about the reasons why the Hon Tau War Base was chosen to be a working place for former revolutionary cadres, and to be a meeting venue for discussing important strategies for revolutionary movements during the anti-US resistance war.

Under the great leadership of members of the Quang Da Special Zone’s PaC, people of Quang Nam-Da Nang Province overcame their difficulties and challenges to liberate their hometown.  This was very significant event in history as it paved the way for the liberation of the whole of southern Viet Nam, and for the nation’s unification.

Thanks to the historical significance of the Hon Tau War Base, the Da Nang and Quang Nam Provincial PaCs have refurbished the Hon Tau historical relic site with the aim of educating local residents, especially younger generations, about traditional patriotism.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, former Secretary of the Quang Da Special Zone’s PaC Tran Than highlighted important historical milestones in the history of the development of the Zone.

The refurbishment of the Hon Tau historical relic site started in early 2016 at a cost of around 50 billion VND in total.  Of this, 8 billion VND came from the Da Nang budget.

The site features a 25km-long road leading to the site, a public working house, a working house of former Secretary of the Quang Da Special Zone’s PaC, a canteen, and display and reception rooms.

This site was officially recognised as a national-level historical relic site in 2012 by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
