City to host Viet Nam Film Festival from 24 - 28 Nov
To date, Da Nang has nearly completed its preparations for hosting the 20th Viet Nam Film Festival from 24 - 28 November.

The 5-day large-scale national event will feature a total of 77 made-in-Viet Nam films, 16 of which are movies, 26 are documentaries, 17 are scientific films, and the remainder are animations.
Most notably, within the framework of the Festival, the 1st Viet Nam-initiated ASEAN Film Awards will also take place in the city.
Hosting the ASEAN Film Awards will be an honour rotated sequentially between other members of the 10-country bloc.
The establishment of the Awards is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the ASEAN (8 August). Themed ‘Cinematography Connecting the ASEAN Community’, the Awards are considered as a testament to the best works of regional filmmakers.

A prize of 3,000 US$ in cash will go to the best movie, whilst other awards will include best director, best actor, and best actress.
The judgment panel for the Awards will feature South Korean film producer Hyong-Joon Kim, Hong Kong director Roger Garcia, and Polish scriptwriter Karolina Bielawska.
A film entitled ‘Da Co Hoai Lang’ (Two Fellow Countrymen) will represent Viet Nam to compete against other regional rivals for the Awards.
During the Festival, there will be an exhibition at the Da Nang General Science Library, featuring the remarkable achievements of Viet Nam’s the cinema industry over the past 2 decades.
According to the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, Vietnamese films participating in this year’s Festival will be screened at the Le Do Cinema, CGV Vincom Da Nang, Galaxy Da Nang Cinama on the 3rd floor of the Coop Mart, and the Trung Vuong Theatre.
Furthermore, a total of over 1,500 eye-catching large-sized panels have been already placed along some downtown streets to promote the Festival amongst the general public. Also, specific plans for ensuring traffic safety and sufficient electricity supplies and other related aspects have been developed carefully by relevant local agencies.
Addressing Wednesday’s meeting, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman cum Head of the Festival’s Organising Board, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, highlighted the significance of the hosting of the Festival in widely advertising the beauty of the land and people of Da Nang.
Vice Chairman Tuan also underlined the importance of ensuring the great success of the upcoming event, thereby re-affirmed the hospitality and friendliness of city dwellers towards visitors arriving in this seaside beautiful locality.
Heed will be paid to appealing for a great deal of attention to the Festival from local residents.
Alongside, a wide range of activities on the sidelines of the event will be organised across the city to widely promote the allure of such local key culture works as the APEC Park, the museums of Cham Sculpture and Fine Arts, and the Marble Mountains Tourist Area.
