Tennis player Pham Minh Tuan, whose hometown is in Da Nang, has ranked 1,711^th in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) men’s singles rankings.

This was the first time the local player has earned a berth in the world prestigious rankings.

The positive result was mainly attributed to the 24-year-old men’s recent victory in the 1^st round of the ongoing Viet Nam F1 Men’s Futures tennis tournament which started in early this month.

Another Vietnamese young talented player, 16-year-old Nguyen Van Phuong from Becamex Binh Duong, has also made his ATP ranking debut as he is now in the 1,608^th place.

Phuong is not competing in the Viet Nam F3 Men’s Futures tournament because he is playing in the US, whilst 20-year-old Trinh Linh Giang from Ha Noi has also withdrawn from this competition on account of illness.

As one of Viet Nam’s top tennis players, 20-year-old Ly Hoang Nam, has advanced to world number 522 thanks to his advancement to the semi-finals of the Viet Nam F1 Men’s Futures. 

The Tay Ninh Province-born man is expected to move up in the ATP rankings.
