Runners to compete in Son Tra Mountain race next month
A total of more than 150 contestants will race in the first ‘Run for Son Tra’, a charity run raising funds to protect the Son Tra Nature Reserve in the namesake mountain on 10 December.

The event’s organisers said that the race will feature a 5km and 16km sections from the bottom of the mountain to the peak at 600m above sea level.
Runners will be able to experience the nature beauty of the 4,400ha reserve, just 10km from the city’s downtown, whilst joining a fund raising for the protection of the reserve and population of the red-shanked douc langur– an endangered primate.
Entrance in the 5km race costs 300,000 VND (13.3 US$) per person, and 500,000 VND (22.1US$) each for the 16km route.

The reserve, known for its rich biodiversity, is now home to a total of more than 1,300 red-shanked douc langurs and over 1,000 plants and 370 animal species.
