Yesterday, a large number of Da Nang’s residents and visitors eagerly enjoyed a spectacular firework display welcoming in the New Year 2018 between 9.00pm and 9.14pm, despite wet and cold weather.

With the application of FireOne, which is the world's most advanced digital fireworks firing and choreography system, a total of over 1,000 high-level and 337 low-level fireworks tubes were let off on barges floating on a section of the Han River, near its eastern bank.

Organised by the Bao Nguyen Food and Event JSC, the funds for the 14-minute-long fireworks show came from the First Real Company.

Ms Lan Ngoc, a city-dweller, highly applauded the fascinating fireworks display for satisfying the spiritual and cultural life of local inhabitants, as well as creating a bustling festive atmosphere in the city during the ongoing New Year break.

In particular, prior to the amazing fireworks performance, a fascinating musical show had been held at a park near the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge in Son Tra District.

The musical show began with a well-choreographed dance performance by a total of 40 Vietnamese artistes, followed by professional performances by such renowned domestic singers as Hong Nhung, Minh Vuong and Gia Kiet, along with US-born Kyo York.

Also last night, thousands of locals and visitors gathered at the 29 March Square on 2 September Street to enjoy the New Year Countdown Party which was considered as a great party of spectacular sound and lights.

Entitled ‘Da Nang Chao Xuan’ Da Nang Welcomes in the Spring’, the event was not only an attractive cultural event, but it also was a special tourism product and a favourite rendezvous for both locals and visitors.

In addition to the aim of counting down to the start of the New Year, the event showcased lively musical performances accompanied by the bustling sound of vehicle horns and hustling crowds.  This would help to inspire those who are living far away home to return to celebrate this special occasion with their families.

In a similar vein, the East Sea Park’s outdoor BNF stage on Vo Nguyen Giap Street was also livened by an interesting musical show welcoming in the New Year 2018 in the same night.

Amongst the spectators, big crowds of energetic young people eagerly swung to the rhythm of bustling music during the show’s spectacular performances by professional Vietnamese DJs.
