International triathlons to be held in May
The 2018 VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam triathlon will take place in Da Nang on 13 May. This year’s event is expected to attract a total of about 5,700 athletes from both home and abroad.

As of early this month, 200 Vietnamese athletes and approximately 800 foreigners from around 50 countries and territories worldwide had already registered to participate the upcoming event.

Participants will compete in a 1.9km swim from Son Thuy Beach, a 2-loop 90km cycle race, and a 21km run along the coastline.
The route of the cycling race will be Son Thuy bathing area - Truong Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Hoang Sa - Le Van Luong - Le Duc Tho - Thuan Phuoc Bridge - Nguyen Tat Thanh, and then back to the start point. Meanwhile, the 21km run will follow a 2 lap course from the Son Thuy bathing area along Truong Sa, Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Sa and then back to the start point.
On 12 May, another triathlon competition entitled ‘Sunrise Sprint’ (or S2) will take place in the city. S2 is a short distance triathlon series featuring a 750m swim, a 20km cycling race, and a 5km run. This contest is open to professional and amateur contestants from both home and abroad. Also on 12 May, an Ironkids Viet Nam will be organised for domestic and foreign children aged between 6 and 14. Contestants aged from 6 - 10 will participate in a 70m swim and a 1km run, whilst those from 11 - 14 will complete a 140m swim and a 2km run.
