On Monday evening (30 April), a splendid opening ceremony of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2018 officially began at 7.45pm, and it attracted thousands of locals and visitors.

Themed ‘The Bridge of Love’, the opening night thrilled the spectators with stunning arts performance, vividly reflecting the amazing images of beautiful bridges that participating teams bring to the event.

Present at the ceremony were Vietnamese Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court of Viet Nam Nguyen Hoa Binh, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia and Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, and representatives from national government agencies and the authorities of Da Nang and other Vietnamese localities, plus invited international guests.

In his opening speech at the event, Chairman Tho remarked that DIFF is the great pride of Da Nang which firmly secures the city’s stature as ‘Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination’ title with which it was honoured at the World Travel Awards (WTAs) Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016.

Entitled ‘Legends of the Bridges’,this year’s event involves 8 teams which have won many top prizes at international fireworks competitions around the world.

The theme aims to regale spectators with interesting stories of 8 participating teams via the city’s legendary bridges noted for their historical, cultural and architectural significance.

Accordingly, each team that takes part in the DIFF 2018 also symbolises an arch of the bridge of friendship, peace and connection of all the 5 continents heading towards a better future.

The municipal government leader said he hoped that, during the 2-month-long festival, locals are enjoying an one-of-a-kind party of fireworks and entertainment arts, thereby upholding the strong vitality to make Da Nang more civilized, modern and attractive to domestic and international friends in the coming time.

The spectators were treated to a breathtaking light spectacle featuring the wonderful collaboration of ground elements with sky elements in a bid to transform the Da Nang skyline into an outdoor audiovisual feast,

The opening night’s arts show started with the highly impressive performance, entitled ‘A New Day of Sun’, by young talented singers Thao Trang and Duong Hoang Yen, with the support of artistes from the Truong Vuong Theatre’s arts troupe.

The performance vividly demonstrated Da Nang full of strong vitality, with a firm belief in a brighter future.

Alongside, the stage of the opening night was furthered awakened with other vibrant and peculiar arts performances joined by a large number of domestic famous singers and dancers.

The Ukrainian artistes performed ‘mazurka’, which is a Polish folk dance in triple meter usually at a lively tempo, and with strong accents unsystematically placed on the second or third beat.

The grand opening ceremony was then followed by the amazing displays by the Da Nang-Viet Nam and Polish teams.
