City team win diving competition at National Swimming and Diving Championships

The 2018 National Age Group Swimming and Diving Championships ended on Monday at the Da Nang Diving and Swimming Club.

A total of 120 divers and 230 swimmers, in 45 teams from across the country, competed in this year’s event.

After the 3 days of the diving competition from 15 - 17 May, Da Nang came 1st with 20 gold medals, 10 silver and 6 bronze.

In the swimming competition, Ho Chi Minh City’s team topped the medal tables with 30 gold medals, 20 silver and 14 bronze. The team from the Military Zone 5 Sports and Physical Training Centre finished 2nd with 25 gold medals, 11silver and 15 bronze, whilst Quang Binh came 3rd with 11 gold medals, 9 silver and 5 bronze.

In addition, Da Nang was ranked 11th amongst 18 medal-winning teams with 1 gold medal, 6 silver and 10 bronze.

After impressive performances, Ngo Dinh Chuyen was Da Nang’s best swimmer. He grabbed a gold medal in the men’s 100m freestyle event, and silver medals in the men’s 50m and 200m freestyle events. He won bronze medals in the men’s 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 400m freestyle events.

Moreover, Chuyen and other members of the city’s relay team took 2 silver medals in the men's 4x100m relay and the mixed group’s 4x100m relay events, along with a bronze in the mixed group’s 4x200m relay event.
