Rookie Vietfootball lost to Tan Hiep Hung 1-9 in the first match of the National Futsal HDBank Championship on Tuesday at Da Nang’s Tien Son Sports Arena.

Vietfootball, is made up of students from the Da Nang Sports University and they only had a month’s training for the event.

Meanwhile, in the derby of Da Nang, Kim Toan Da Nang tied with Hoang Thu Da Nang 3-3.

Although Cao Bang played better than Sanest Tourist Khanh Hoa, the two teams also drew 1-1.

In the matches today (3 May), Cao Bang will take on Hoang Thu Da Nang, Kim Toan Da Nang will face Tan Hiep Hung and Vietfootball will fight Sanest Tourist Khanh Hoa.

Twelve futsal teams are taking part in the tournament, which is divided into two stages.

The first stage is underway and will go on till 9 May. Six teams will compete in a round-robin format. Four winners will enter the second stage.

The second stage will include 10 teams (including the four winners of the first stage and six leading teams in the previous championship). It will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from 24 November to 3 December.

The winner of the championship will represent the country at AFC Futsal Club Championship 2019 while the runner-up will compete at AFF Futsal Club Championship 2019.
