SHB put at risk in the 'danger zone' by losing Hai Phong

Matches in the 7th round of this year’s league took place at stadiums across the country on 4, 5 and 6 May.

SHB Da Nang were defeated 3-2 by Hai Phong at the Lach Tray Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hai Phong took control of the game from the beginning, and their dominance paid off in the 24th minute when striker Errol Anthony Stevens opened the scoring with an accurate shot at goal. Nine minutes later, striker Nguyen Dinh Bao doubled the score for the home team with a perfect free kick into the goal. As a result, Hai Phong currently took the lead in the first half.

In the second half, SHB’s coach Nguyen Minh Phuong tried to strengthen their attacks by substituting Hoang Minh Tam for Mac Duc Viet Anh, and Vo Huy Toan for Nguyen Thanh Hai. Meanwhile, Hai Phong focused on defensive and rapid counter-attack tactics. 

In the 52nd minute, SHB’s midfielder Vo Huy Toan narrowed the gap to 2-1 with a perfect free kick into the rivals’ net.  Then, in second-half stoppage time, striker Ha Duc Chinh leveled the score at 2-2 with a powerful shot after latching on to an accurate pass from Huy Toan. 

However, in the very last minute of second-half stoppage time, midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan scored from a free kick from outside the penalty area, giving Hai Phong a thrilling 3-2 win.

Ha Noi FC currently top the league with 17 points, followed by Quang Ninh on 14 and Sanna Khanh Hoa on 12. SHB DN are in 11th place on 7 points. Song Lam Nghe An and Nam Dinh are the bottom pair, with 6 and 4 points respectively.

SHB DN will next play Ho Chi Minh City at home on Saturday 19 May at 5.00pm in the Hoa Xuan Stadium in Cam Le District.
