60 fliers compete in Paragliding Open Race 2018
As part of the 2018 Da Nang - Summer Rendezvous programme, the Paragliding Open Race entitled ‘Flying over Tien Sa’ took place in the city on 23 and 24 June.
This year’s race attracted a total of around 60 professional and amateur fliers nationwide, and from such foreign countries as Laos, Thailand, South Korea, the UK, and Germany.
The participating fliers raced from the top of the Ban Co (Chessboard) Peak at the height of 600 meters above sea level to land on the Tho Quang Beach in Son Tra District.
Notably, there were adventurous paragliding performances by Sano Babu Sunuwar from Nepal who has been the first person to successfully fly from the summit of Mount Everest, and Mr Toro from a Paraglider School in Japan.
According to the race’s organisers, the Son Tra Peninsula is considered as one of the most spectacular flying sites in Viet Nam for fliers to admire majestic mountains and beautiful beaches from above.
