Taking the advantage of playing at home, the hosts were determined to take 3 points to end their run of poor performances in the recent league matches. They started the game with confidence, and had a number of chances to take the lead in the opening exchanges. However, Nigerian striker Edward Ofere missed his chances to score the opener.

Meanwhile, SHB DN focused on defensive and counter-attack tactics, and making continuous and varied attacks to put pressure on their rivals. However, an exciting first half ended goalless.

After 30 minutes of the second half, Thanh Hoa were not able to break the visitors’ defence.

Therefore, Thanh Hoa’s coach Nguyen Duc Thang changed his tactics and squad members in pursuit of goals. He called on midfielder Vu Minh Tuan although he had not fully recovered from injury. However, this change created a turning-point for the hosts.

In the 79th minute, thanks to his perfect combination with midfielders Bui Van Hieu and Trong Hoang, Tuan rushed on the left wing, and managed to beat SHB’s goalkeeper Le Van Hung. This was Tuan’s first goal for Thanh Hoa during this season.

In the remaining time, SHB players fought back strongly but failed to level the score.

In the other match on the same day, Sanna Khanh Hoa beat Can Tho 2-1 at home, whilst Ho Chi Minh City managed a 1-1 home draw against Binh Duong.

This afternoon, remaining matches in the 13th round of the 2018 V-League will take place at stadiums across the country.
