City hosts 2nd stage of National Music and Dance Competition 2018

On Monday evening, the opening ceremony of the 2nd stage of National Music and Dance Competition 2018 took place at Da Nang’s Trung Vuong Theatre.

Present at the event were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vo Cong Tri, and municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung.

Themed ‘Convergence of quintessence’, the opening ceremony featured a variety of spectacular arts performances from such famous domestic artistes as People’s Artistes Quang Tho and Thu Hien, plus Meritorious Artistes Thanh Vinh, Minh Duc and Thanh Lam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman Dung warmly welcomed all artistes, actors and actresses nationwide for participating in this year’s competition.

He said proudly that Da Nang has been selected to host numerous international-scale political, cultural and sports events, which has helped the city affirm its position as Asia's leading festival and event destination.

Mr Dung hoped that participating arts troupes would make every effort to bring into full play their creativity, professionalism and sublimation in order to provide the best possible arts performances imbued with the Vietnamese cultural identity for local audience, helping to enhance the cultural and spiritual lives of people.

The 2nd stage of National Music and Dance Competition 2018 is taking place at the Trung Vuong Theatre from 20 - 31 August.

The event attracts the participation of more than 800 artists from 18 professional arts troupes nationwide, including the Viet Nam Music Song and Dance Theatre, Bac Lieu Province's Cao Van Lau Theatre, Phu Yen Province’s Sao Bien Theatre, Dak Nong Province’s art troupe, and the Trung Vuong Theatre.

According to the Agency for Performing Arts under the management of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, each arts troupe will offer one performance lasting from 80 to 110 minutes. The performances are taking place at 10.00am and 8.00pm daily during the 11-day event.

The city’s Trung Vuong Theatre will compete in the event with an arts programme themed ‘Stories about Tien Sa’ at 8.00pm today, 21 August. The programme will feature 2 parts namely ‘Then’ and ‘New Day’.
