Since early August, Da Nang has gone viral with the appearance of some contestants from the Miss World pageant 2016 who have visited the city at the invitation of a local beauty - Truong Dieu Ngoc.

Thanks to her superior height and attractive face, Dieu Ngoc has participated in some events in the city during her senior high school years.

In addition, the 27-year-old beauty has already competed in some pageants at national and international levels, and gained some remarkable achievements.

In particular, she was in the Top 12 of the Miss Ao Dai Viet Nam 2014, and the Top 10 of Miss Universe Viet Nam 2015.

In 2016, with the most confident and persuasive answers as well as being highly appreciated by the jury in all competition rounds, Dieu Ngoc defeated other contestants to be crowned Miss Ao Dai Viet Nam 2016.

With this title, Dieu Ngoc was Da Nang’s first beauty to represent Viet Nam to compete in Miss World 2016 in Washington DC, the USA.

Although she didnot gain any outstanding achievements at the international-scale pageant, Dieu Ngoc felt very happy to advertise the images of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, to international audience, and make friends with other contestants worldwide.

After being announced to be a contestant to represent Viet Nam at the Miss World pageant 2016, Dieu Ngoc realised that the competition was a rare opportunity to advertise the images of the city to international friends.

Despite being busy making preparations for the international pageant, Dieu Ngoc has also spent a week to make a video clip to introduce about herself combined with some of the city’s popular tourist attractions, including the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, the Marble Mountains and the My Khe beach.

After having been posted on Miss World’s Youtube, the video clip has drawn much attention from international audience.

In addition, Dieu Ngoc knew that representatives of participating countries at Miss World pageant would take turns to invite their friends to visit their hometowns in order to exchange culture and advertise tourism.

Therefore, she has cooperated with the municipal Department of Tourism to develop plans for the host for Miss World representatives.

From 5 - 9 August, beauties from Thailand, Myanmar, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Japan, all competed in the Miss World pageant 2016, got together at Da Nang.

During their 5-day stay in the city, the ladies visited some of the city’s popular tourist attractions such as the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park and the Ba Na Hills Resort, as well as discover the beauty of Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City.

Ms Priyanka Yoshikawa, Miss World Japan 2016, said that she was very impressed with the city’s beautiful beaches, majestic mountains and romantic rivers. She added local people were very friendly and hospitable.

She affirmed that she would advertise the images of the city’s landscape and people to her friends, relatives and fans when returning to Japan.

Dieu Ngoc said that she would continue her efforts to promote the city’s images to international friends in the future in her own ways.
