The statement was made by municipal People’s Committee (PC) Vice Chairman cum Head of the Organisers of the Festival Tran Van Mien at a recent meeting to review the performance of the DIFF 2018.

In his remarks at the meeting, Vice Chairman Mien said that the organisers quickly drew valuable lessons in preparatory works through every night of firework shows. He took the opportunity to appeal for local businesses to continue their efforts to ensure the success of the DIFF 2019 in a bid to promote the city’s social-economic development.

According to the organisers, the DIFF 2018 entitled 'Legends of the Bridges' had a total of 8 teams, namely Poland, France, the US, Italy, Hong Kong (China), Sweden, Portugal, and Da Nang-Viet Nam, competing. This large-scale international event has helped Da Nang strongly affirmed its position as ‘Asia’s Leading Festival and Events Destination’, the award it was given at the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony in 2016.

Apart from admiring wonderful fireworks displays, this year’s event featured an array of highly impressive arts performances. In addition, the DIFF stage was enlivened with a breathtaking light spectacle featuring the wonderful collaboration of ground elements with sky elements in order to transform the Da Nang skyline into an outdoor audiovisual feast.

Notably, a total of 32,065 tickets of all the stands for the DIFF 2018 were sold out at the official locations, which helped the organisers earn over 14.8 billion VND in total from the ticket sales.

In addition, the event received a total of around 44 billion VND in donations. In particular, the city welcomed a total of over 1.581 visitors during the 2-month event, a rise of 24% against the previous year.

Also at the meeting, representatives from the Sun Group asked for active assistance from local businesses and relevant agencies to ensure the success of next year’s DIIF. Sun Group also pledged to engage all its human and material resources to organise successfully the event in the years ahead.

On the occasion, 26 groups and 44 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit from the municipal PC in recognition of their active involvement in ensuring the success of the DIFF 2018.
