The picture of the ‘Giant Hand Structure on the Golden Bridge’ topped a list of 60 pictures chosen in August, followed by an image of a woman wearing a niqab during a demonstration against the Danish face veil ban and the collapsed Morandi Bridge in Italy.

In early August, the bridge was also included on a list of the top 100 World’s Greatest Places for 2018 by the US magazine Time.

British newspaper the Independent featured Viet Nam’s Golden Bridge among ten of ‘the world’s most incredible bridges’, along with Ribblehead Viaduct – ‘one of the UK’s best examples of Victorian engineering’, Pont du Gard Aqueduct of France – a ‘Roman monument built in the first century AD’ and the Golden Gate Bridge – ‘San Francisco’s iconic crossing’.

A video of the bridge has received more than 20 million views since it was released two months ago.

“Two giant concrete hands emerge from the trees, holding up a glimmering golden bridge crowded with gleeful visitors taking selfies at the country’s latest eccentric tourist draw,” as quoted by international news agency AFP.

CNN described the bridge as ‘the shimmering structure’ while the BBC said it was like ‘walking through a god’s hands’.

The Golden Bridge, launched in June this year, was designed by TA Landscape Architecture. It sits at 1,400m above sea level in Ba Na Hills.

According to Ngo Quang Vinh, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, by late July this year, every 2 out of 3 international tourists traveling to Da Nang had been to visit the Golden Bridge in Ba Na Hills.

The bridge is expected to bring more tourists to Da Nang in the upcoming months. In the first six months of 2018, Đà Nẵng welcomed more than 4 million visitors, an 29.4% increase compared to the previous year, including 1.6 million foreign tourists.
