Taking part in the competition, students will have chances to research, create and experience the newest technology in the field of self-driving cars.

With the participation of teams from universities in Asia, Vietnamese students will have the chance to exchange and learn knowledge and skills to prepare for work in the global environment.

The total prize fund is up to 1.5 billion VND (US$65,000). The winning team will receive a reward worth more than 1.1 billion VND, including a one-week trip to learn about new technology in the US or Japan, 15 million VND in cash and a doctoral degree scholarship in artificial intelligence, worth 700 million VND, for the best candidate.

Bui Quang Ngoc, FPT general director, said that the goal of FPT was not only to create a playground for young people in Viet Nam to access and practice with the latest technology but also set up a global environment to equip them with the skills necessary to confidently enter the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The race will be held in the cities of Ha Noi, Da Nang, and HCM City.

To participate in the competition, contestants can register at http://dangky.cuocduaso.fpt.com.vn. Each team must consist of three to four members of the same university.

Registration will be open from 11 October to 5 November. The semi-final round will be held from 1 - 31 March next year. The final round will take place in April and May next year.

As a Vietnamese enterprise pioneering in research, development and application of new technologies, FPT has been interested in promoting automotive technology.

FPT has established a company with a scale of 700 people operating in this field since 2016.

In mid-2017, the corporation applied the latest technologies of imaging and artificial intelligence in model cars.

The first commercial vehicle integrated with self-driving technology developed by FPT was successfully tested at the company’s campus in October last year.

The corporation is preparing further tests of its car at the campus of the District 9 Hi-Tech Park in HCM City; Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in Ha Noi, and FPT City in Da Nang.
