Around 100 foreigners compete in Expats Got Talent
Around 100 expats who are living, studying, and working in Da Nang and neighboring localities have competed in the ‘Da Nang’s Expats Got Talent 2018’ contest.
The event took place at the Trung Vuong Theatre, 84 Hung Vuong, on 8 and 9 December.
Organised by the municipal Department of Culture and Sport, the event featured a total of 22 performances imbued with cultural identity of participating countries. Included were Chunhyang dance (South Korea), Sieng Khen dance (Laos), peacock dance (China), and drama music performed by pupils from the city-based St. Nicholas International School.
In the end, artistes Liu Ruili and Zhang Yuying from China won the A prize of 5 million VND for the individual category.
Meanwhile, a team from the Ba Na Cable Car Service Company took the A prize in the group category, pocketing 10 million VND.
The B prizes went to a group of South Korean students for their Chunhyang dance, and little girl Chloe Nhu Mi McDonald for singing ‘Hallelujah’ song in Vietnamese and English.
In addition, TamaraBrocco and Kataithong Panyathip grabbed C prizes in the individual category. Meanwhile, C prizes of the group category were given to groups of Lao students.
Consolidation prizes went to Justin Nhan Tu McDonald and Lee Kyung Soo.
This is the second time the contest has been held by the municipal Department after the first successful event in 2017.
The event aimed to promote arts and cultural exchanges amongst expat communities and locals in the city. Also, the event helped local residents to understand more about the cultures around the world, as well as advertised the city’s images to international friends through local expat communities.
