The signing ceremony took place in the province.

Under the signed agreement, the Thua Thien Hue provincal PC will be in charge of granting the investment decision, directly approving and directing concerned agencies to carry out investment preparations, implementation, and acceptance of the project.

The Da Nang PC will assign representatives from the municipal Department of Culture and Sports to participate in the Thua Thien Hue PC-appointed management board for the project.

The project will be implemented during the 2019 – 2020 period, and its total investment capital will be borne equally by the 2 localities.

In tandem with the project deployment, the 2 localities will direct their functional bodies to make plans and mechanisms to preserve the relic’s values and tap its tourism development potential on the basis of satisfying the mutual interest of the both sides.

The venue sits at the top of its namesake mountain pass located at the geographical boundary between the city and Thua Thien-Hue Province.

The gate sits at the top of the Hai Van Pass which runs approximately 21 km across a spur of the larger Annamite Range that juts into the East Viet Nam Sea. Located at 490m above sea level, Hai Van Gate literally means ‘ocean cloud gate,’ referring to the mists that sometimes rise from the sea and reduce visibility.
