The Hoa Minh Village Festival which recently took place in the namesake ward, Lien Chieu District, drew a great deal of attention from villagers.

This event is held every year, with hosts alternating between Hoa My, Hoa Phu, Trung Nghia and Phuoc Ly villages.

This year’s event took place in Hoa Phu Village from 15 to 17 February (from the 11^th and 13^th days of the 1^st lunar month).

The 3-day festival featured some solemn rituals were held at the Hoa Phu Communal House. They consisted of making offerings to the ancestors and the God of the Soil, a prayer ceremony, and an incense-offering ceremony in commemoration of national heroes and ancestors.

Besides, there was a wide range of interesting folk games and traditional competitions such as stick pushing, climbing banana trees, baseball, running race, calligraphy, martial arts performances.

Regardless of the burgeoning urbanisation, this time-honoured traditional festival has been preserved in order to pay tribute to predecessors. This event creates a get-together for descendants of indigenous tribes, including those who live away from their hometowns, hereby reminding them of their roots and promoting the preservation of the good cultural value of the village community.
