Many public opinions on the 29 March Park development project have been collected in a bid to covert this venue into a new community cultural landmark for the city.

Since being authorised by the municipal administration to manage the park at the beginning of last year, the district has taken effective measures to promote its value with the intention of turning this place to a new community cultural landmark for the city.

Covering an area of more than 20ha, the downtown park boasts a variety of green trees, including many large old trees providing thick canopies of shade.

The park is one huge circle with a massive lake in the middle, fitted with walking lanes. It is truly an ideal place for locals and visitors to do exercises, go for picnic or fishing, and discover the nature.

Mr Nguyen Van Ha, 67, a local resident, often visits the park for walks and physical exercise, as well as to enjoy fresh air.

In particular, in the past, he and other residents themselves witnessed a disgusting landfill amazingly convert into this creational space, thanks to the public consensus and solidarity. “What a stunning trash-to-treasure transformation”, Ha exclaimed.

The authorities and residents of the Thanh Khe District now shoulder a burden of how to develop the park which serves as an ecological space, a new community cultural landmark, and an inviting place for locals and visitors

In recent years, the park’s potential has yet to be fully tapped. Still worse, creational equipment has degraded gradually, failing to ensure ultimate safety for users.

In an effort to address this issue of deep concern, more recently, the district-level authorities have collected many constructive proposals from the public, especially prestigious experts, on implementing the park development project.

Notable amongst them were highly-praised recommendations on moving the existing zoo out of the park, replacing the entire existing amusement rides with new ones, appealing for private investment to build public toilets, dredging the thick sludge out of the lake at the park site, and ensuring environmental sanitation and security.

The renovation of the park is an urgent need which ensures the criteria, with a focus becoming a cultural landmark.

The park must be an open space for the public as anyone finds it easier to access and enjoy its great value. Besides, strategic visions to secure the park’s sustainable operation should be taken into account.

Chairwoman of the Thanh Khe District Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Bich, said, the district-level authorities would seek official approval from the municipal government to start the upgrade of the park.

Once the green light for the project is given by the city leaders, the district authorities will continue to perfecting the upgrade plans on the basis of selecting valuable public suggestions in a bid to ensure the most effective implementation process.
