Da Nang - wonderful destination for international sports events
By having been a host for numerous international sports events, Da Nang has been proving its emergence as an attractive destination for global-level sports events and festivals in recent years.
Participants in the annual Da Nang International Marathon will have the opportunity to run across some of the city’s most beautiful bridges and admire beautiful beaches during the race |
Over the past year, the city has been very proud of being the host of a wide range of large-scale international sports events. Included are the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG5), Da Nang International Marathon (DNIM), and the 2015 - 2016 Clipper Round the World Race.
The main reason is thought to be the sincere attachment that leaders and people of Da Nang have given to the organisers and athletes.
Just setting foot in the city after having finished the 2015 - 2016 Clipper Round’s leg, skipper Smith Daniel and crew members of the Derry~Londonderry~Doire team were very impressed with the friendliness and hospitality of local residents.
He affirmed the enthusiasm and sincerity of the government and people of Da Nang let them forget the tiredness of the trip, and try to enjoy relax time during their stay in the city.
At a spectacular farewell ceremony for the Clipper Race boats as they left Da Nang for their next port-of-call, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who is the founder of the Clipper Race, remarked Da Nang was the most unforgettable stopover they have ever had.
He also thanked the city’s leaders and people for their warm reception during their stay in the city.
He also promised that he and crew members would act as tourism ambassadors of Da Nang in a bid to advertise the images of a friendly, beautiful and hospitable city to the whole world.
Meanwhile, the annual DNIM boasts its clean and beautiful roads. Participants in the full and half marathon races will have the opportunity to run across two of the city’s most beautiful bridges, namely Tran Thi Ly, Rong (Dragon) and Thuan Phuoc. Moreover, they can also admire beautiful beaches with their soft white sand and clear blue water during the race.
For that reason, DNIM has been ranked 3rd amongst the top 6 must-do marathons in Asia by readers of Rad Season magazine. The Eat Play Surf selected DNIM as one of the 10 best marathons to conquer in Southeast Asia and have the most beautiful setting. Also, it has been named amongst the world’s top 8 best marathons by world-renowned blogger Sassy from Hong Kong.
Notably, DNIM, the first professional marathon in Viet Nam, has been certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) to take place until 2023.
