In recent years, the Thanh Khe District authorities in Da Nang have been paying special attention to promoting sports activities across the locality in order to enhance the quality of entertainment and physical education amongst local residents.

In particular, in 2017 and 2018, a reading room was built in Xuan Ha Ward, whilst Culture and Sports centres were constructed in the wards of Vinh Trung, Hoa Khe, and Thanh Khe Dong.

Also, the Culture and Sports centres in Tan Chinh and Thanh Khe Tay wards were repaired.

Most recently, around 3 billion VND from the district budget has been spent on building a Culture and Sports Centre in Thanh Khe Dong Ward. Work started on the project in 2018 on an area of over 500m² at 34 Do Ngoc Du. After 9 months of construction, the centre was officially put into use 2 months ago.

Since its operation, the newly-built centre has been crowded with locals in the early morning and afternoon of weekdays, especially at weekends.

Mr Pham Thanh Nam, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Khe Dong Ward People’s Committee, said currently the centre is providing free training courses on table tennis, badminton, martial arts and dance sport for local residents.

“In the coming time, the centre will cooperate with the district-level Culture and Sports Centre to organise some sports competitions for local residents”, he added.
