The international sports event has seen a sharp increase in the number of contestants year by year.

In particular, DNIM 2013 attracted only over 1,800 professional and amateur runners participating. This figure is expected to increase to 9,017 in DNIM 2019.

Last year’s event saw the participation of athletes from only 56 countries and territories, whilst runners who have already registered to compete in this year’s competition come from 67 countries and territories. Amongst them, there are runners from Macau, Egypt, Belgium, Hungary and Lebanon who have competed in DNIM for the first time.

Thanks to its reputation in the world, DNIM ranked amongst top 10 Best Mass Participation Events and top 10 Best International Sporting Events in 2018.

Besides, DNIM has officially been listed in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Rankings. The Abbott World Marathon Majors is a series consisting of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world.

Accordingly, the top ranked runners in DNIM 2019 will have the opportunity to accumulate points to register for one of the largest and most renowned marathons in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City.

Some sports experts predict that DNIM will see an increasing number of participating athletes year by year with about 10,096 in 2020, 11,308 in 2021, and 14,186 in 2023.

According to the DNIM organisers, the international sports event has drawn a great deal of attentions of athletes and visitors over the past years thanks to the city’s beautiful coastal race route.

Moreover, many non-stop international air routes from the Da Nang International Airport to destinations around the world have been operated, facilitating the travelling of athletes more convenient. In addition, the city has provided a wide range of diversified hotel and homestay services.

In addition to its beautiful mountains, romantic rivers, and amazing beaches with its clear blue waters and soft white sands, Da Nang boasts numerous best places to visit. Included are the Marble Mountains, the Sun World Ba Na Hills, and the Son Tra Peninsula.

More interestingly, Da Nang is considered as a convenient transit point for both domestic and international visitors to arrive in the Hue Citadel, and the Hoi An City and the My Son Sanitary, both in Quang Nam Province.

Also, the friendliness and hospitability of local residents is considered as one of the important factors to attract more tourists to this beautiful coastal city.

It is hoped that the upcoming DNIM 2019, themed ‘Because I Love Da Nang’, will be a good opportunity for contestants, volunteers, partners and supporters to show their love for the city, and advertise its beautiful images to friends worldwide.
