City hosts National Swimming and Diving Championships
The 2019 National Swimming and Diving Championships is taking place at the Da Nang Diving and Swimming Club from 16 - 25 September.

A total of 85 divers and over 100 swimmers, in 33 teams from across the country, competed in this year’s event.
After the first day of the diving competition on 16 September, Ho Chi Minh City came 1st with 6 gold medals, 4 silver and 3 bronze. Ha Noi finished in 2nd with 5 gold medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze, whilst Dong Nai were in 3rd place with 2 gold medals and 3 bronze.
As for the Da Nang team, Nguyen Thi Hang claimed the gold in the event’s 400m using snorkels and flippers. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Lan Vy won the silver in the event’s 100m using scuba equipment, and Nguyen Thi Hang took two silver medals in the 1,500m and 200m using snorkels and flippers.
In addition, the local team gained the bronze in the mixed group's 4x50m relay event using snorkels and flippers.
After the diving competition ends, more than 100 swimmers in 20 teams nationwide will compete in the swimming competition for such categories as 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m freestyle events; 50m, 100m and 200m frog style; 50m, 100m, and 200m backstroke; 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly; and 200m and 400m mixed events.
Besides, they will compete in the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle and mixed relay events for the men, women and mixed groups.
