The contest, with qualifying and final rounds, was initially scheduled to take place from May to August.
The organising board said it will announce the date of Miss Viet Nam 2020 later after considering the disease situation, adding that it still receives entries and seeks potential contestants to stay active in the event organisation.
Meanwhile, the Standing Board of the Party Committee of Hai Phong city also cancelled the Flamboyant Flower Festival 2020 and the gathering marking the 65th anniversary of the city’s Liberation Day (May 13) for fear of the epidemic.
The committee decided to suspend preparations for the presentation of gifts to local households on the occasion of the Liberation Day.
All the funding initially allocated for those activities and other financial sources will be prioritised for Covid-19 prevention and control in the city.
