The National Cup 2020 officially kicked off on 23 May after nearly three months of suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The qualifying round of the tournament took place at stadiums across the country on 23 and 24 May.

SHB Da Nang defeated Hue 1-0 at Tu Do Stadium in Hue City on Sunday.

The Vietnamese national football squad’s striker Ha Duc Chinh scored a goal for Da Nang.

The visitors dominated the first half, but could not find their opening goal. In the 67^th minute, a penalty kick was awarded to SHB DN after Hue’s defender Hoang Van Quyet made a mistake in the penalty area. The penalty was successfully converted by striker Duc Chinh to give his team the lead at 0-1.

Despite SHB players' great efforts, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.

In the 2020 V.League 1, SHB DN lost two consecutive games against Binh Duong and Sai Gon. Winning in the National Cup is an important opportunity for SHB DN’s coach and players to improve their resolve for the next stage.

In other matches, Nam Dinh beat Hoang Anh Gia Lai 2-0 at the Thien Truong Stadium on Saturday.

On Sunday, An Giang claimed a 1-1 away against Long An 2-2, Song Lam Nghe An defeated Binh Dinh 1-0, while Ba Ria-Vung Tau had a 2-1 win over Sai Gon.

SHB Da Nang will next play HCM City at the Thong Nhat Stadium.
