In fact, many travellers stranded in Da Nang initially felt very anxious and insecure because they are not able to return to home amid the city’s struggle against a new wave of the Covid-19.  Encouragingly, the visitors’ anxiety has subsided somewhat, and they has turned more secure as they received active support and great encouragement from hotels’ owners and local authorities during their stay in the city.

Many hotels in Da Nang have given support in terms of accommodations and food to their guest during their stay in the city.

According to the city authorities, about 400 tourists are stranded in Da Nang due to the coronavirus crisis and have to stay in the city until the social distancing rules are lifted.

The Da Nang Department of Tourism has asked the stuck tourists to stay inside their accommodation facilities for their safety.  They are advised to only go out when they need to buy food, supplies and medicine, or in emergency situations.

Meanwhile, the owners of the hotels where these visitors are staying have been requested to provide necessary support and lower room rates for them.

In active response to the city authorities’ appeals, many hotels have offered considerable discounts on accommodations to support stranded tourists.  Also, guests are allowed to cook at shared kitchens here.

In more worth-praising move, some serviced accommodation providers now let tourists stay for free during this ongoing social distancing period.

Having failed to take the last flight to leave pandemic-hit Da Nang for home as expected, like many others, Ms Thuy Trang, a visitor from Ha Noi, initially fell into the state of anxiety and depression due to being stranded in such a Covid-19 hotspot.

But then, she was regularly reassured by the representative of the Da Nang Tourism Department.  At the same time, the owner of a hotel where she has stayed gave her support in terms of free-of-charge accommodation, foodstuff and other necessities.

Ms Trang eagerly said, during 10 days of staying in the hotel, she got rid of anxiety.  Accommodation service is very comfortable, and sufficient fresh food is stored in the fridge, plus cooking appliances are available for her self-catering meals.

“In this very stressful time, the valuable support from the hotel as well as the local authorities indeed made me feel much more secure” said Ms Trang.

Ms Phan Thi Quynh, the Director of a hotel located on Nguyen Du Street, Hai Chau District, said, that only 5 stranded tourists now stay here.

In addition to giving free accommodation and food, the hotel’s staff members are also interested in capturing their clients’ thoughts and aspirations, as well as giving them words of great encouragement in order to make sure they feel at home.

Representatives from the municipal Department of Tourism affirmed this unit is rechecking the number of tourists still stranded in the city and mapping out appropriate plans to facilitate their home trips in the time ahead.

The list of supporting hotels is available on the city’s information portal and Facebook fanpage Danang Fantiscity.

With the humanitarian goal of “Nobody is not left behind now”, the timely support of hotels and the local authorities have left a good impression on the tourists.
