The Da Nang judo team have faced a host of new challenges for which they might not have had to prepare or even consider while preparing for the National Youth Judo Championships 2020 which was set to take place in June in Dong Nai Province.

One of the challenges confronted by the athletes was the far-reaching disruption in training and daily routines as Da Nang braced for a first wave of coronavirus infections in April.

Judo fighters trained to the best of their abilities with a focus on home workouts to maintain their fitness during the city's strict social distancing period.

After the first wave of Covid-19 outbreak was successfully contained in Viet Nam, some national-level sports events resumed, including the National Youth Judo Championships 2020.

Thanks to their great efforts, the city’s young judo fighters brought home 3 golden, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals from the national-level sports event.

When a second wave of coronavirus hit Da Nang in late July, the jiu-jitsu team faced disruption in the preparation for the 2020 National Jujitsu Club Championship.

Likewise, jiu-jitsu fighters must follow solo drilling and training at home to complement their training.

One more again, the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak was successfully brought under control in Da Nang, and jiu-jitsu fighters were able to enter the 2020 National Jujitsu Club Championship in Hue City from 26-30 September.

As a result, ju-Jitsu fighters claimed 4 golden, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals in the competition.

Coach of the city’s judo and ju-jitsu teams Nguyen Duy Phu remarked that the recent success gained by judo and ju-jitsu teams in Da Nang was mainly attributed to fighters’ positive mindset and training attitude.

“All athletes have devoted hours to conditioning, honing skills, perfecting techniques for their particular sport, and practice often. All of them hope that the city’s judo and ju-jitsu sector will achieve its desired success in the upcoming competitions” coach Phu remarked.
