The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture is the first and only of its kind in Viet Nam to have appeared in the Museum Destinations category of the first-ever Wonders of Viet Nam- Google Arts & Culture virtual platform.

The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture has become one of the most visited tourist attractions in the city.

Aimed at honouring Viet Nam’s natural landscapes, tangible and intangible heritages recognised by the UNESCO, the ongoing project is a joint effort made by Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and world-renowned tech giant Google.

The Da Nang museum was selected for its high ability to convey the typical and outstanding values of the Champa civilisation through its rich collection of more than 300 sculptural artifacts.

In particular, many artworks convey historical, cultural and religious messages associated with the cultural heritages of humanity recognised by UNESCO like the My Son Sanctuary in Quang Nam Province.

This highly popular museum has also been recognised as a municipal-level historical relic site by Da Nang government in recognition of its great historical and cultural values, and its unique architectural styles.

The Wonders of Viet Nam- Google Arts & Culture project features 35 exhibitions with a combined total of about 1,400 photos, panorama pictures, and videos in both Vietnamese and English languages.

Prominently, famous Vietnamese photographer Tran Tuan Viet, winner of Viet Nam's National Geographic Awards, supplied more than 1,000 photos to the project.

Google also advertised this landmark project on international channels, from the Google Arts & Culture website to its social media page and Youtube.

Google Vice President for Public Policy and Government Relations for the Asia Pacific region Ted Osius highly hailed the project as an important part of Google’s comprehensive support for Viet Nam’s tourism industry. He expressed his hopes that the online exhibitions will help raise public awareness about the preservation of relic sites in Vietnamese areas recently hit by harsh weather conditions.

Since its beginnings in 2011, Google Arts & Culture has grown to over 2,000 cultural institutions from over 80 countries worldwide till date.
