Exhibition of architectural designs for Youth Park's renewal runs in Da Nang from April 26 - May 4

An exhibition of entries competing at an ongoing contest, which seeks best architectural ideas for the upgrade of the Da Nang-based existing Thanh Nien (Youth) Park, is taking place from April 26 to May 4, 2021 at the headquarters of the municipal Youth Union, 71 Xuan Thuy Street, Hai Chau District.

Entries competing at an ongoing contest, which seeks best architectural ideas for the upgrade of the Da Nang-based existing Thanh Nien (Youth) Park, are on display at the headquarters of the municipal Youth Union, 71 Xuan Thuy Street, Hai Chau District.

The display for free of charge aims to collect public feedback about the entries at the design contest.

Organised by the Construction Engineering Consultancy Centre under the Da Nang Department of Construction, the contest, which started in February, is open to both domestic and foreign individuals and organisations that are architectural design consultants or construction planners.

From March 8 to 22 April, a short list of participants were required to make their designs for the park’s renewal, and submit their completed entries to the judging board on 23 April. Finally, eligible entries created by eight units were selected to be displayed at the exhibition.

After the exhibition, the judging of the entries and the announcement of the contest’s result will be slated to take place from May 4 to 18

There will be the first prize of 300 million VND and the second prize worth 100 million VND.

Besides, the entry receiving the highest number of public votes will receive 50 million VND in cash.

The contest aims to give an attractive facelift to the park, which is now face a shortage of many public entertainment services and facilities, and has a low density of trees. Once upgraded, the park will turn itself into a new architectural landmark and an attractive public place in Da Nang.

The upgraded park, which now encompasses parts of Hai Chau District’s Hoa Cuong Nam Ward and Cam Le District’s Khue Trung Ward, will be planned to cover over a total area of 37.32ha, of which 8.3ha is water surface.

It will border Dang Xuan Bang street to the north, Xuan Thuy Street to the west, Cach Mang Thang 8 Street to the south, and Le Thanh Nghi Street to the east.

The architectural design for the Youth Park’s ‘new coat’ must feature a typical community space where cultural exchange activities take place during public holidays, at Tet, and in daily life, with a harmonious combination of architectural elements, water and green-covered landscape, and entertainment facilities, hereby satisfying the diversified needs and aspirations of locals and visitors, especially teenagers.

With a regard to architectural planning for new construction works inside the park, entries must propose the locations of building blocks and the designs of the municipal Culture - Cinema Centre project and the Youth Entertainment Technology Centre.

In detail, the 3,000m2 municipal Culture - Cinema Centre will serve as a place for organising cultural evevts, arts programmes, festivals and the screening of movies. Meanwhile, the about 6,800mYouth  Entertainment Technology Centre, featuring laser projection technology, will be designed for cultural and historical exchanges for the young people.

Besides the aforementioned features, the park will consist of such new other facilities as a square, parking lots, an area for the organisation of startup activities, a picnic spot, an outdoor performance stage, mini soccer and tennis courts, swimming pools.
