After more than 5 months of taking the post of SHB Da Nang’s head coach, Phan Thanh Hung has brought excitement to both local players and supporters. Hung has already said with confidence that he would bring SHB Da Nang back to its right position in the domestic arena.

After having terminated its contracts with more than 10 players, including 3 foreigners, the SHB Da Nang Football Club has been busy seeking new faces in preparation for new football season. In which, top priority will be given to retaining the Vietnamese national football squad’s striker Ha Duc Chinh. However, the club's leaders have yet to be able to meet face-to-face with the striker due to the pandemic.

Chairman of the SHB DN Football Club Bui Xuan Hoa said that “We really want to retain Ha Duc Chinh but not at all costs. Therefore, it is necessary for the two sides to have a face-to-face meeting to discuss the details of the contract. We are not too hasty because the time to prepare for the new season is still relatively long”.

According to coach Phan Thanh Hung, in recent years, the SHB team have not only lost its identity but also has not gained the necessary stability, leading to unsatisfactory results. However, he remains optimistic that the football team will be able to return to the next season with more positive results.

Specifically, SHB DN own such stars as goalkeeper Tuan Manh, and players of Hoang Minh Tam, Phan Van Long, Dang Anh Tuan, and A Mit. Besides, SHB have already recruited midfielder Lam Anh Quang, defender Nguyen Sy Nam or midfielder Lam Quy through recent transfer windows.

Most notably, the club have welcomed back midfielder Pham Nguyen Sa and defender Vo Hoang Quang, both trained and grown up from Da Nang football sector. Moreover, coach Hung decided to add 16 young footballers from the city’s young football club to the existing professional club.

When being asked about the immediate goal, coach Phan Thanh Hung did not hesitate to affirm: "With a relatively stable force and 3 soon-to-be-recruited foreign players, we are completely confident that we can compete in the medal team at next year’s season”.

However, coach Hung unveiled his team’s biggest problem is that his club’s players did not have many opportunities to rub shoulders with rivals through actual matches in order to improve their skills and performances.

Of course, it is very difficult to demand a breakthrough of SHB Da Nang right now. But with his rich experience and ability to train a young talented players and his special management method, coach Phan Thanh Hung is believed to revive the team in the not too distant future.

Don’t forget that, along with predecessors Tran Vu and Le Thuy Hai, coach Phan Thanh Hung has trained numerous talented players for SHB, including Phuoc Vinh, Nguyen Sa, Thanh Phuc, Thanh Hung and Quang Cuong, who had made great contributions to helping SHB Da Nang win the V-League championship in 2009 and 2012.
