Many trusted and experienced sports clubs across Da Nang, such as Danang Triathlon, Make Runners Great and Hoa Khanh Runners, have deftly tapped into this need by providing a smorgasbord of pre-recorded or livestreamed online workout classes to suit varying fitness abilities and help local sports lovers keep a healthy lifestyle to fight off the virus.
Vo Quoc Tuan, the founder of the Danang Triathlon Club, said apart from encouraging his club members to engage in regular home workouts, he sometimes organised online classes in a bid to help club members maintain their physical fitness, health, and appearance.
From there, all club members can participate in 21-day or 100-day sports challenges involving running in place, jumping-jacks, crunches, squats, etc. More interestingly, some club members have registered for virtual trans-Viet Nam races.
In addition, the Danang Triathlon club also offers online workout classes for those in need.
Most recently, the Hoa Khanh Runners club has recently organised an online Core Champion League tournament, attracting the participation of 96 athletes of 48 teams from 34 sports clubs across the country. The event lasts from October 1 to 31, with the most 4 outstanding teams to compete in the final rounds.
Tran Huu Hoanh, an administrative member of the Hoa Khanh Runners club, highlighted that the sports event provided the good opportunity for runners nationwide to connect and share their valued experience in practices, as well as spreading sports inspiration to many people, thereby contributing to building a healthy running community.
Despite its recent establishment, the Make Runners Great club has been active in streaming its fitness classes live or prerecorded to ensure its club members can still enjoy their workouts during their stay at home.
It is known that the club had launched a virtual 99-day slow-running challenge at the speed of 7-9 minutes/km for new participants before Da Nang imposed new tight social distancing measures in September.
Leader of the Make Runners Great club Huynh Quoc Hung said that his club planned to launch the 2nd and 3rd challenges in October 2021 and February 2022.
“We hoped that such sports events will help contribute to promoting the development of running activities in the city as well as providing runners with useful knowledge in a bid to help them prevent common running injuries when competing in races” said Hung.
