25thDA NANG Newspaper Road Races postponed due to COVID-19
The Da Nang government has approved a proposal by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports to postpone the 25th DA NANG Newspaper Road Races to the following year in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Co-organised by the newspaper, the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the municipal Department of Education and Training, the city’s Military Command, and the municipal Police Department, the DA NANG Newspaper Road Races is one of the city’s sports competitions.
The DA NANG Newspaper Road Races is annual sports event which sees participation of professional runners, employees from government agencies and companies, students from junior and senior high schools, vocational schools, junior colleges and universities across the city, along with officers and men from the city-based armed forces.
The event aims to train talented runners for Da Nang and promote sporting spirit among people from all walks of life, civil servants, school pupils and university students, military officers and men across the city.
The sporting event will be not in this year after the event’s organizers met to point out difficulties and challenges posed by the pandemic that has significantly impacted the organization of the event. In addition, training for runners from schools could not be carried out due to COVID-19 as city-wide schools are providing online instruction amid the coronavirus outbreak. Moreover, the event’s organizers have found it very hard to promote the sports event.
Therefore, this annual event will be rescheduled until next year.
