Syrian referee to be responsible for VAR technology in Viet Nam's next home football game against Japan
Following a recent decision by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), referee Hattab Hanna from Syria will replace Alieibi Ammar Ali Abdulla Jumaa from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to be responsible for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in Viet Nam’s next home football match against Japan at 7:00pm on November 11 in Ha Noi-based My Dinh Stadium.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Abdullah Hassan from the UAE is still the main referee controlling the upcoming game. The referee is not too strange to Viet Nam’s national football team as he controlled the China-Viet Nam match in the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers at the Sharjah stadium in UAE on October 8.
In the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers, except for the Viet Nam-China game, the intervention by a VAR was seen on three Viet Nam’s matches against Saudi Arabia, Australia, and Oman with adverse decisions for the Vietnamese team, although most of the decisions were reasonable.
