Two Vietnamese boxers to compete in Women's World Boxing Championships 2021
Female boxer Nguyen Thi Thu Nhi, the WBO World belt holder in 2021, has just withdrawn from the 2021 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships due to her injuries.
Her absence gives chance to boxers Nguyen Thi Tam (the women's 51kg category) and Vuong Thi Vy (the women's 57kg category) to compete in the upcoming tournament which is slated to kick off in Istanbul, Turkey, on December 4.
However, the AIBA International Boxing Association has not yet made a final decision on whether the 2021 Women's World Boxing Championships will be organised or not when the padenmic situation in Turkey is increasingly becoming more complicated.
Boxer Nguyen Thi Tam should have taken a bronze medal at the 2019 Women's World Boxing Championships in 2019 in Russia after beating Aetbaeva Liliya of the host if her result was not changed.
Also at the 2019 Women's World Boxing Championships, boxer Nguyen Thi Huong won the first bronze medal for Vietnamese women's boxing in the 81 kg weight category, a historic mark for herself and Viet Nam.
