Da Nang turns 50-year-old makeshift market into public park combined with garden for stroll
The authorities of Tam Thuan Ward, Thanh Khe District in Da Nang is carrying out procedures to turn down the Thuan Thanh B makeshift market for the creation of a public park combined with a garden for stroll and relaxation in an attempt to meet the cultural needs of the local residents living nearby.

The 149m2 wide Thuan Thanh B temporary market, located deep in alley on Tran Cao Van Street, has operated for more than 50 years.
The market operates daily from 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. accommodating about 40 traders.

Over the past time, several stall holders and shoppers to this market have been confirmed to contract COVID-19, thereby spreading the virus to some surrounding neighbourhoods. In addition to being labelled as a coronavirus hotspot, this venue is facing a very high risk of fire and explosion incidents.
The clearance of the Thuan Thanh B temporary market for the building of a park to serve public cultural demand is very necessary”, said Ms. Nga.
The Tam Thuan Ward authorities are currently encouraging the traders operating at this market to be in favour of the aforementioned decision on the development of the park, as well as finding the most suitable solution to ensure social welfare for them.
Besides, the ward is also promoting related procedures to invest in this cultural institution.
Till date, the Thanh Khe District administration has given the green light to the spending of VND500 million from the district’s budget on the construction of the park.
Also VND 200 million will be used to support job changes and choose a new operation location for the existing traders at the market.
The turning of a 50-year-old makeshift market into a public park combined with garden for stroll will have been completed by late this year.
