A ceremony to officially establish the Da Nang Association of Han (Chinese script) and Nom (Vietnamese ideographical script) characters took place on Saturday at the Da Nang General Science Library.

The predecessor of the Association was the Da Nang Han- Nom Centre established in 2012 under the municipal Study Promotion Association.

Currently, the city's Han-Nom Association has 104 members, most of whom are Party members aged 30 -over 90.

The Association operates in the field of researching and disseminating Vietnamese Confucian translation know-how, collecting, publishing, researching, developing calligraphy, and preserving the great values of Han Nom cultural heritage in the city.

The event saw the debut of the Association’s Executive Board for the 2022-2027 term.

The Association has set a goal of ensuring that 90% of its members will master the principles of the structure of the above-mentioned time-honoured characters, regularly translating Han Nom documents, bibliography, genealogy, genealogy, parallel sentences to serve the preservation of traditional cultural values in the city.
