First ever 3x3 pro basketball tournament to be held in Da Nang in late April

The organisers of the Viet Nam Professional Basketball Tournament (VBA) has recently announced its plan to organise the first-ever 3x3 pro basketball tournament (VBA 3x3) in Viet Nam in preparation for the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31).

Specifically, participating teams at the VBA 3x3 Tournament will compete in 2 Stops, and Grand finals.

Stop 1 is scheduled to take place on April 30 and May 1 in Da Nang, whilst Stop 2 will be organised on May 7 and 8 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Basketball matches will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m daily.

VBA 3x3 Tournament will feature two competitions: Viet Nam 3x3 Professional Basketball Tournament - VBA 3x3 Pro and 3x3 U20 Basketball Tournament for VBA Clubs - VBA 3x3 U20.

In particular, VBA 3x3 Pro is expected to attract the participation of between 8 and 12 teams, including 7 VBA clubs namely Ha Noi Buffaloes, Thang Long Warriors, Da Nang Dragons, Nha Trang Dolphins, Saigon Heat, Ho Chi Minh City Wings, and Cantho Catfish, along with some guest teams.

Most specially, Viet Nam’s national basketball team is expected to compete in the VBA 3x3 Pro in preparation for the forthcoming SEA Games 31.

Most likely, four outstanding basketball players of Dinh Thanh Tam, Justin Young - Duong Vinh Luan, Tran Khoa Dang and Chris Dierker - Dang Quy Kiet, who helped the national basketball team win a bronze medal in the 3x3 basketball competition at the 2019 SEA Games will continue to compete this year’s event.

The head coach of the 3x3 basketball team is Mr. Matt Van Pelt, and the assistant is coach Le Tran Minh Nghia.

Meanwhile, VBA 3x3 U20 competition is intended for athletes born in 2002 or later.

The event is expected to see 8 participating teams, including 7 VBA clubs: Ha Noi Buffaloes, Thang Long Warriors, Da Nang Dragons, Nha Trang Dolphins, Saigon Heat, Ho Chi Minh City Wings and Cantho Catfish.
